"The Geneticist" (3D Animation Short Film)

Renderings and work in progress images for the animation short film "The Geneticist".

The film is currently in production.

3D Graphics for "Portraits" (2007/2008)

The images to the left are showing steps from the creation of "Loose Ends", a short animation film I worked on in 2007.

My part in the work was character design, modeling and texturing. I developed a set of procedural textures and shaders for stone, plants and various organic surfaces. I used Maya and Photoshop.

Realtime Model of a Spaceship for "Evolving Universe"

Once again Evolving Universe. This time I was supplied with the concept drawing for a spaceship and created a low-poly model plus a few texture variations (with a special style, as can be seen). I used Maya Mental Ray texture baking and Photoshop to create colormaps, incandescence maps and bump maps for use in Ogre Engine.

(Later on I also created additional textures that looked more like metal.)

Winged Devil or "666 polygons" , (2005)

A low polygon character design. Modeling and texturing, as well as rigging was done on one weekend in Photoshop and Maya. For some strange reason, the final mesh had exactly 666 polygons…

Basement, July (2004/2007)

An empty wine-cellar, rendered with Mental Ray for Maya 7.0. based upon a photography of the room. The textures are painted in Photoshop, partly based on photographies and textures from the internet.

The room was done as a smaller project on the University of Applied Sciences in Hagenberg, during which I tried to become acquainted with Mental Ray for Maya. As can be seen, there are still some problems with the global illumination light in this image.

I recently looked through my old projects and thought it worthwile to rework the rendering. In the new version I corrected settings for the global illumination (removed the glowing corners), used a displacement to create relief for the floor tiles and added some objects to the room.

Various Works

I'll be updating this block with works I create over time for exercise or other purpose.

Dinosaur, July (2005)

A little dinosaur, featuring a cute smiley face, an angry and a pretty sad face. In exceptional bad cases he gets red from the top of his nose to the tip of his tail! Click the image and see him change.

Character design, modelling, blendshapes fort the facial animation and UV-setup for the color change were done by myself. Pia Auteried later rigged and animated the litte fellow.

Various Works (2005 and earlier)

These images are mostly exercises for Maya courses.
